Chief Steward's Notes for 5/18/08
As you may or may not know, my mom passed away April
1, 2008 after a long battle with Diabetes. I just want thank everyone for their support,
cards, flowers and kind words. I was overwhelmed by the support from both teamsters and management
and it meant a great deal to my family and me. Again, thank you
all for helping me deal with a very hard time in my life.
I believe things are getting better in the hub.
We are trying to open the lines of communication with management.
Between Chuck & I alone, we have processed over 400 grievances with well over 65%-70%
resolved. I just want to thank Chuck for all his support as well as all my stewards who are stepping up because this isn't about Chuck or
me, it's about the members. I would also like to thank Frank Kearney and
Local 294 for all the support they are giving me this year.
To the drivers: please make sure you get with myself or
Chuck or any of my stewards to sign the 9.5 opt/in or opt out sheet.
This is very important to do and we have to do this two times a year.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to email me or call me.
The shift change list for the part-timers is almost totally completed.
The last two members will be moved by the first or second week of June.
I also would like to give a plug to
the UPS Teamster Benefit Club. The Benefit Club is looking for new members.
For more info email me and I'll put you in touch with the right people. I was trying to get another trip to Yankee
Stadium or Shea but being this is the last year, everything is sold out.
So instead I'm trying to plan a football trip this season. Any requests
for the Giants, Jets, Bills or Patriots would be greatly appreciated.
I would like to hear from anyone that has any concerns
or ideas to improve this web site that we have. Suggestions are always welcome.
Finally, a shout out to any members out of work to get a withdrawal card.
